Foundation Engineering completes field work for Valley Football Center Expansion

Valley Football Center Expansion
Oregon State University Campus, Corvallis, Oregon

Foundation Engineering recently completed the field work for the Reser Stadium Expansion – Phase 3, Valley Football Center project on the Oregon State University Campus in Corvallis.  This project is the most recent component of a comprehensive athletic and educational facility plan for Beaver Sports.  Foundation Engineering provided geotechnical services for the earlier expansions, Phase 1 (east side in 2003 to 2005) and Phase 2 (south end‑zone in 2006 and 2007).

This $42 million expansion and renovation project will focus on improvements to Valley Football Center (VFC) located in the north end-zone.  The project includes the addition of 55,000 square feet to benefit all OSU athletic programs which serve more than 500 student-athletes participating in 17 sports.

Major improvements include the demolition and reconstruction of the north stands and the addition of an improved home team locker room, equipment room, and sports training facility at the field level.  Foundation Engineering services will include shallow foundation design and the preparation of construction documents.  In addition, an extensive shoring system will be designed in tandem with the structural consultant to support VFC at the top of a ±14-foot deep vertical cut along the perimeter of the building.  Construction is slated to begin this summer and substantial completion is planned for the start of the 2016 football home season.
