Port of Astoria East Bank Skipanon Setback Levee & Habitat Restoration | Clatsop County, Oregon

DESCRIPTION:  The East Bank Skipanon Peninsula is 90 acres of emergent freshwater marsh and scrub-shrub wetland on the east bank of the Skipanon River.  Columbia River Estuary Study Taskforce (CREST) and Bonneville Power Association (BPA) are investigating alternatives for the peninsula, including the construction of ±5,700 feet of setback levee as part of the Skipanon Setback Levee and Habitat Restoration Project on the Lower Columbia River Estuary.

SERVICE:  Foundation Engineering provided a preliminary geotechnical evaluation consisting of site exploration, geological review, laboratory testing, and preparation of a Phase I Preliminary Report.  Our investigation included characterization of the dredge sand stockpile to be used in the construction of the proposed setback levee, and locating the original ground surface beneath the dredge fill stockpile for comparison of the ground surface elevation outside of the stockpile.
