DESCRIPTION: The City of Corvallis reconstructed a section of NW 10th Street, between NW Buchanan Avenue and NW Grant Avenue in Corvallis, Oregon. The reconstruction involved removing the original asphaltic concrete (AC), cement-treating the original base rock and subgrade, and installing new AC. This approach was selected based on the potential cost-savings, environment considerations, and construction timing.
SERVICE: Foundation Engineering completed a geotechnical investigation for the project. The work included evaluating the existing pavement and subgrade conditions and provide design and construction recommendations.
Laboratory testing was conducted to determine the appropriate cement content for the treated materials. The results were used to determine the required pavement section and provide construction recommendations. Foundation Engineering also provided construction observations and consultation during the cement-treatment application.
