DESCRIPTION: The Fisher School covered bridge is located off Five Rivers Road adjacent to Crab Creek Road, near the community of Fisher in Lincoln County, Oregon. The original bridge included a wood truss supported on timber piles. The covered bridge was moved ±20 m downstream (west) and restored on new foundations. The relocated structure is used for one-way traffic. The new crossing includes the original wood truss structure supported on two interior piers (main span) and three new, short timber approach spans extending from the stream banks to the wood truss.
SERVICES: Foundation Engineering was retained to complete a geotechnical investigation. Our scope of work included exploratory drilling, laboratory testing and engineering analysis. Foundation Engineering provided recommendations for the design and construction of the new foundations.
