DESCRIPTION: Two residential subdivisions, Brooklane Heights and Oakmont Addition, are currently being developed within a ±36.3-acre parcel located off Brooklane Drive in Corvallis, Oregon. The development will eventually include 66 residential lots in total, as well as new roads, a water storm detention pond, and other facilities. The area is located on terrain that initially had ±10% to 30% slopes, and site development included cuts and fills of up to ±23 feet tall to level the terrain.
SERVICE: Foundation Engineering completed a multi-phase investigation for the project between 2005 and 2008 to address preliminary through final designs. We also completed a reconnaissance-level geologic hazard study of the site to address the City’s standards for development on steeply sloped areas. Later, Foundation Engineering provided construction observations during earthwork for the initial site development.
The general site grading and road construction for Oakmont Addition was completed in 2011. Site grading for a portion of Brooklane Heights was completed in 2012. Oakmont Addition is currently being developed on a lot-by-lot basis. We were retained by individual lot developers to evaluate the foundation conditions and provide additional consultation, as needed, as the lots are developed.
